First edition hardback copy of ‘The Last man on the Moon.’ The inside title page has the inscription: ‘To the National Space Centre – The sky is no longer the limit. Gene Cernan.’ The book was written by Cernan, with New York Times best-selling author, Don Davis. It tells the story of Cernan’s experiences during his career as an astronaut. Cernan appeared in a documentary based on ‘The Last Man on the Moon’ in 2014.

Cernan became an astronaut in 1963 and participated in both the Gemini and Apollo programmes. He undertook the third ever spacewalk during Gemini 9A. Cernan was the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 10, which was the final mission before the first Apollo lunar landing. He was the Commander of Apollo 17, the final Apollo lunar mission. At present he holds the title of being the last person to walk on the Moon.
