Description

Second edition hardback copy of ‘The Mystery of Mars’ by Sally Ride and Tam O’Shaughnessy. The first page is signed by Sally Ride. The book is an accessible introduction to Mars. It draws on data from missions such as Pathfinder to give an overview of the planet. It compares the evolution, geology and geography of Mars to that of Earth and explores the possibility that life could have begun there.

In 1983 Sally Ride became the first American woman in space, and the third woman in space overall. After leaving NASA Ride co-founded Sally Ride Science in 2001. The company aims to inspire young people in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). Tam O’Shaughnessy was also a co-founder of Sally Ride Science. Ride and O’Shaughnessy wrote six children’s science books together and were also partners in life as well as business.
